Rep. Tom Barrett represents Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, securing 50.3% of the vote in his last election. A lifelong Michigander, Tom was raised in a hardworking family, where his father worked two jobs while his mother dedicated herself to raising Tom and his six siblings.
Following high school, Tom answered the call to serve by joining the United States Army, where he built a distinguished 22-year military career. His service took him around the world, including deployments to Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, Kuwait, and the Korean DMZ. As an experienced aviator, he logged over 1,000 flight hours in advanced helicopters, earning multiple commendations for his dedication and leadership.
After retiring from the military, Tom transitioned into public service, representing Michigan in the State Legislature. Throughout his tenure, he has been a strong advocate for veterans’ rights, infrastructure improvements, and economic growth. He is a proud graduate of Western Michigan University, where he earned his degree with honors in 2007 through the Montgomery GI Bill.
