Building Bridges on Capitol Hill: Rep. Nick Begich (AK)

During the RNNC event, Hulya Erol-Garvett, on behalf of TC-USA PAC and the Turkish-American community, introduced herself to Congressman Nick Begich, the freshman representative serving Alaska’s At-Large district.
Though early in his tenure, Begich has already secured an influential portfolio of committee assignments that give him a voice in shaping U.S. energy, infrastructure, and technology policy. His positions on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, the House Committee on Natural Resources, and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure place him at the intersection of America’s most pressing challenges—energy independence, environmental policy, and the modernization of critical infrastructure.
Policy Priorities Rep. Begich’s stated priorities include:
Energy Security: Expanding domestic oil, gas, and critical mineral production.
Infrastructure Investment: Modernizing aviation, maritime, and pipeline systems critical to Alaska and the broader U.S. economy.
Regulatory Reform: Streamlining federal rules that slow development projects and limit competitiveness.
Science & Technology Oversight: Ensuring accountability and efficiency in federal research and environmental programs.
These priorities align closely with Alaska’s strategic role in North American security and resource independence.
Who is Nick Begich?
Nick Begich comes from a well-known Alaskan political family, but his legislative priorities are distinctly tied to Alaska’s unique challenges. As Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, he has positioned himself as a champion for responsible development of the state’s vast natural wealth. He has also been appointed Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, underscoring his commitment to modernizing the infrastructure that sustains Alaska’s—and America’s—economic security.
Beyond energy and infrastructure, Begich’s role on the Science, Space, and Technology Committee gives him oversight authority on issues ranging from environmental policy to federal research programs. His agenda reflects a clear through line: leveraging innovation, protecting resources, and creating opportunities for growth in one of the nation’s most strategically vital states.
