During the recent RNNC event, Hulya Erol-Garvett, representing TC-USA PAC and Turkish Americans, had the opportunity to introduce herself and connect with Congressman Addison McDowell, the newly elected U.S. Representative for North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District. Beginning his term in January 2025, McDowell, a Republican, brings a fresh perspective and a strong set of priorities to Capitol Hill.
Background and Personal Motivation
Born in 1994 in Whiteville, North Carolina, Addison Parker McDowell grew up in Lexington and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from UNC Charlotte in 2016. Prior to holding office, he worked on congressional staffs—including for now-Senator Ted Budd—and lobbied for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.
McDowell’s political motivation is deeply personal. His younger brother, Luke, tragically died of a fentanyl overdose—a loss that has driven Addison’s firm commitment to tackling drug abuse and securing the nation’s borders.
