
Three Turkish-American Women Appointed to Serve in Biden's Administration
In a significant show of diversity and inclusion, three accomplished Turkish-American women have been appointed to key positions within the Biden administration. This appointment not only highlights the influence of Turkish Americans in U.S. politics but also underscores the administration’s commitment to diverse representation at high levels of government.

Didem Nişancı – Chief of Staff at the Treasury Department
Didem Nişancı has taken on the role of Chief of Staff for Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. With an extensive background in financial policy, Nişancı previously served as the global head of public policy for Bloomberg LP. Her experience spans four years as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission during the Obama administration, where she was instrumental as a White House liaison. Nişancı has also held significant positions such as staff director on the Senate Banking Committee during the 2007-2009 financial crisis, and she has worked as a deputy to the Assistant Treasury Secretary from 1998 to 2001. A Smith College graduate, she resides in Washington, D.C., with her family.

Özge Güzelsu – Deputy Chief Legal Advisor at the Department of Defense
Özge Güzelsu has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Legal Advisor at the Department of Defense. Before this role, she was involved in various capacities on Capitol Hill, including as Legislative Director to Congressman Bill Keating and as Subcommittee Staff Director on the Foreign Affairs Committee. Güzelsu is a first-generation American with a strong educational background from Rutgers University and the Naval War College, where she complemented her fluency in Turkish. Her previous roles include senior adviser to Victoria Nuland during the Obama administration and Senior National Security Advisor to Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
